Provincial Tangible Heritage

Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.krThese are the surviving woodblocks used to print and pass down the genealogy of the Pandopanseogong branch of the Gyeongju Kim clan. According to the preface and postscript of the genealogy, the manuscript was completed in 1648, and the woodblocks are judged to have been carved around 1685. According to the genealogy, there were originally about 40 woodblocks in total; 17 of these have since been lost, and only 23 survive today. Although some blocks are missing, they provide valuable evidence of the level of local woodblock printing and carving technique in the 17th century, and are in good condition.
