Only the main women's quarters (anchae) and the men's quarters (sarangchae) survive. The anchae has five bays, with a loft above the kitchen, while the sarangchae is built in the raised-floor pavilion (nu-maru) style. The date of construction is not clear, but the present owner says it has been handed down that the house was built about 450 years ago, and that during the Japanese invasions of Korea (Imjin War) it served as a base for recruiting righteous army soldiers and stockpiling weapons to repel the Japanese forces. Yun Gyeong-nam (1556-1614) was from Namha, Yanghang, went by the pen name Yeongho, and belonged to the Papyeong Yun clan. From an early age he devoted himself to scholarship, immersing himself in the classics and histories, and became friends with scholars such as Mun Wi and Jeong On. In 1592, during the Japanese invasion, he raised and led a righteous army and was appointed registrar of the Office of Military Affairs (Gungisa Jubu), but resigned the post; in 1599 he was appointed magistrate of Jangsu County, and after his death was posthumously honoured with the title of Censor-General (Daesaheon). The Yeongho Silgi (Veritable Records of Yeongho) survives as a documentary record of his life.
