Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.krThese are the printing woodblocks for the collected works, entitled Oejaejip, of Yi Hu-gyeong (1558–1630), pen name Oejae, a mid-Joseon scholar and the founding forebear of the Oejae branch of the Byeokjin Yi clan. Yi studied Neo-Confucianism as a disciple of the scholar Jeong Gu, known by his pen name Han-gang. During the reign of King Gwanghaegun he was recommended by Yi Si-bal and Kim U-ong and appointed sema, a junior escort post, in the Crown Prince's Guard Office, but he resigned the position. When the Jeongmyo War broke out in 1627, he accompanied the king in his flight to Ganghwado Island, and in recognition of this service he was appointed magistrate of Eumseong county after returning to Seoul. He devoted himself to the study of Neo-Confucianism, and after his death he was enshrined at Deokbong Seowon in Yeongsan, South Gyeongsang Province.
