The books and documents held by No Jin-hwan are all original manuscript copies. They form important material for research into the political, economic, social and legal history of the late Joseon and Hanmal (late Korean Empire) periods, and into the etiquette and calligraphic history of local scholar-official families (jaeji sajok). In particular, the Hunryeong (Directives) is a chronological register of the directives issued to Seonsan by the governor of Gyeongsang Province between 1895 and 1901, together with directives and royal edicts from the Takjibu (the central finance ministry) and the Ministry of Home Affairs; it is valued as precious material for the study of modern administrative history. The other old documents are of various kinds, each carrying its own value as cultural heritage and historical source material, and all are well preserved. In particular, the jeomnyeon mun-gi — documents made by pasting several records together — and the documents relating to bongsu (beacon-fire signal) stations are said to be of especially high value as historical sources.
