Ak Stele Jeongchungnok
악비 정충록 · 岳飛 精忠錄
Provincial Tangible HeritageJoseon · 1584

Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.krThe Jeongchungnok was compiled with illustrations depicting the deeds of Ak Bi, a minister of China's Song dynasty, in order to inspire loyalty. In Korea it was first published in 1584, the 17th year of King Seonjo of Joseon, but was lost during the Japanese invasions of 1592. It was republished in 1709, the 35th year of King Sukjong, and republished again in 1769, the 45th year of King Yeongjo, using a copy that had been kept in the house of Jo Ik-do. This is an academically valuable source for understanding both the process by which the book was repeatedly reprinted and the artistic quality of its woodcut illustrations.
