Bagik Songeunmunjip Woodblocks
박익 송은문집 목판 · 朴翊 松隱文集 木板

This is the posthumous collection of writings and poetry of Songeun Bagik (1342–1398), a civil official and scholar of the late Goryeo period. Bagik served as a civil official under King Gongmin of Goryeo and won military distinction subjugating Japanese pirates and the Jurchen. When the political situation grew turbulent he withdrew to his hometown, and even after the founding of the Joseon Dynasty he never took up office again. The woodblocks were made in 1837, the third year of King Heonjong of Joseon, and comprise four volumes bound as one book. They contain six prose pieces and 31 poems by Bagik, together with poems sent to him by Yi Saek, Gil Jae and Byeon Gye-ryang, and elegies mourning Kim Maeng-seong, Jeong Do-jeon and Jo Jun. Even after the fall of Goryeo, the writings are deeply imbued with the feelings of a man who to the end considered himself a loyal subject of Goryeo.
