A geumgo is a metal percussion instrument used in temples to summon the community or announce urgent matters. This geumgo, still hung and used today in Bogwangjeon Hall, has an outer diameter of 67.7 cm, an inner diameter of 54.8 cm, and a width of 12.6 cm. There is no particular pattern around the rim of the surface, and the centre is likewise plain and unadorned. An inscription on the side records the donor's name and states that it was made in the forty-ninth year of the Qianlong reign, showing that it was made in the eighth year of King Jeongjo (1784). This geumgo is in good condition and is an important source that reveals, through the inscription on its side, the donor's name and the year of production.
