KOGL Type 1Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.kr

This small statue, enshrined in Wontongjeon Hall of Seoktapsa Temple, has a total height of 42 cm, a shoulder width of 20 cm, and a knee width of 26.7 cm. Its large face, flattened body and short neck show the characteristic features of late Joseon Buddhist statues. The crown was made separately and placed on the head. At its centre is a manifestation Buddha, with arabesque patterns carved in relief on the background, and flames, flowers, birds and other elements made separately and fitted on, giving the crown a lavish decoration.
