The Amitabha Altar Painting of Guksaam Hermitage at Ssanggyesa Temple is a line-drawing Buddhist painting (seonmyo), its imagery rendered in yellow lines on a red ground. Painted in 1781 by the monk-painter (geumeo) Hamsik, it shows at the top centre a seated image of Amitabha Buddha in the lotus posture on a tall lotus pedestal; below and to either side stand images of the Eight Great Bodhisattvas, and above them the Ten Great Disciples are arranged five to each side. In the sky at the top of the painting are small images of emanation Buddhas shown with palms joined. Executed in colour on silk, the painting is a tall rectangle (155.5 cm x 113.7 cm) made as a single panel. It was originally enshrined in the Inbeopdang Hall (a hall combining monks' quarters with a place of worship) of Guksaam Hermitage, but is now held in the temple's Seongbo Museum.
