Son So (1433–1484) settled with his wife's family in Yangdong Village, where his descendants lived for generations. In 1459, the fifth year of King Sejo, he passed the regular triennial civil service examination (singnyeon munkwa) and went on to serve as Jubu and then as Jwarang, junior secretary of the Board of War. During the Rebellion of Yi Si-ae he took the field as a records officer (jongsagwan) and was ranked second class among the Jeokgae Gongsin, the Merit Subjects honoured for quelling the rebels. He later served as magistrate of Andong and of Jinju. The tombstone and stone figure statue are of great historical significance, not only for the early date of their construction, but because Kim Jong-jik, who composed the epitaph, and Son Jung-don, who wrote it out in calligraphy, were both leading figures of the Sarim faction of early Joseon.
