김해 원명사 지장보살본원경 · 金海 圓明寺 地藏菩薩本願經

Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.krThis is a woodblock-printed book on mulberry paper, bound in the thread-binding style, published in 1474, the fifth year of King Seongjong of Joseon. It consists of three volumes — upper, middle and lower — in a single binding, with a text block measuring 34.3 by 22.3 cm. Its content sets out the many virtuous deeds that fulfil the vow of the bodhisattva Ksitigarbha, who pledged not to attain buddhahood so long as even a single sentient being still suffers in hell. According to the colophon by Kim Su-on, the book was published in May 1474 to pray for the repose of Queen Gonghye. It shares the same woodblock edition as Treasure No. 1104, but contains an illustrated frontispiece not found in that edition.
