The Panjeon Hall of Bongeunsa Temple, located in Samseong-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, is a single-storey wooden building with a gable roof, built in 1856 and repaired in 1878; it is the oldest building on the temple grounds. The hall serves both as a janggyeonggak, a hall for storing the woodblocks used to print scriptures, and as a buljeon, a hall for Buddhist worship, and it is architecturally rare in that it combines these two functions through a distinctive arrangement of windows and doors. The wooden plaque hanging under the eaves of the central bay of the front façade bears the two characters 板殿 (Panjeon) carved in relief, written by Kim Jeong-hui (1786-1856), also known by his pen name Chusa. The hall is currently designated a Tangible Cultural Heritage of Seoul.
