성곡당 신민 진영 · 梁山通度寺所藏歷代高僧影幀
Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.krThis portrait depicts Seon Master Sin Min of Seonggokdang seated cross-legged on the floor, turned to the left in an almost frontal, eight-tenths view. Behind the figure is a chair serving as a backrest, its edge draped with a beopui (a monk's ceremonial patchwork robe) decorated with a lotus scroll design. Beside the figure a stack of books is piled up; the topmost volume lies open, with a pair of spectacles depicted on top of it. To the right and left of the composition are, respectively, a title inscription and an encomium (a eulogy praising the subject), both written directly in ink, and on the reverse is an ink-written production record. This record shows that the work was made in 1859 by the monk-painter Uiundang Jau. The picture measures 78.8 cm wide and 120.0 cm high.
