Wolheodang Hall Gyecheong Portrait
월허당 계청 진영 · 梁山通度寺所藏歷代高僧影幀
Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.krThis portrait shows Seon Master Gyecheong of Wolheodang seated cross-legged on the floor, turned to the left in a seven-tenths view. The absence of a flower-patterned mat on the floor, the plain, unpatterned background, the outlines and details of the face, and the rendering of the robes all follow a style similar to that of the portrait of Hwagokdang Gyecheon. On the left of the composition is only the title inscription reading 'Wolheodang Gyecheong daesa jijin' (a true likeness of Great Master Gyecheong of Wolheodang). The picture measures 67.4 cm wide and 100.0 cm high, and is made of four joined panels of ramie cloth (jeobon, the woven ramie support of the painting).
