Doamdang Hall U Sin Portrait
도암당 우신 진영 · 梁山通度寺所藏歷代高僧影幀
Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.krThis portrait shows Seon Master U Sin of Doamdang Hall seated cross-legged on the floor, in eight-tenths left profile. Against a two-tiered background of an upper wall and a lower woven mat, a chair with a backrest is placed behind him; he sits on a cushion on the floor, facing sideways, holding a monk's staff in one hand and a rosary in the other. Draped over the chair is a green monastic robe, its edges painted with a lotus-scroll design. On the right side of the painting is only a hwaje — an inscription identifying the subject — written in white on a vermilion ground, reading 兩宗都摠攝▨庵堂宇伸之眞 ("Portrait of U Sin of Doamdang Hall, Supreme Overseer of the Two Orders"). The painting measures 81.8 cm in width and 124.3 cm in height.
