Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.krThe wooden seated Avalokitesvara and Mahasthamaprapta Bodhisattva statues have recently been regilded and are, on the whole, in very good condition. A lotus-seed ornament is presumed to have originally been fitted beneath the pedestal, but it has since been lost. The statues were originally enshrined in Bongnimsa Temple's Geungnakjeon Hall. In 1999, when the Geungnakjeon was dismantled to build a new Daeungjeon Hall, a newly made statue of Sakyamuni Buddha was enshrined in the rebuilt hall, and these two bodhisattva statues were instead placed separately in the large room of the monks' quarters.
