Provincial Tangible Heritage

Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.krSamijeong Pavilion was built in 1727, the third year of King Yeongjo of Joseon, by Jo Deok-rin (1658-1737), who sought out a place famous for its scenery in which to cultivate himself in his later years. It stands on a sloping site beside a valley, with three bays across the front and two bays in depth; a wooden-floored hall occupies the centre, flanked on both sides by ondol rooms with heated floors. The outer signboard reading "Samijeong" and the inner signboard reading "Maam" are said to have been written personally by Chae Je-gong, a renowned chief state councillor under King Jeongjo (r. 1776-1800).
