Seated Stone Shakyamuni Triad and Sixteen Arhats Statue of Anjeongsa Temple, Tongyeong
KOGL Type 1Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.kr

The Nahanjeon Hall (Hall of Arhats) of Anjeongsa Temple enshrines, centred on the Shakyamuni Triad, sixteen arhat statues together with a heavenly-being figure and a lion figure, one placed on each side. The Shakyamuni Triad is coated all over in white pigment (hobun), while the robes of the sixteen arhats and their attendant figures are painted in a variety of colours, including white, ultramarine, green and purple. In particular, the fifth and sixth arhat statues on the left are, unlike the others, made of wood; although their faces and robes resemble those of the stone arhat statues, they differ stylistically, suggesting that they were made at a later date.
