Seated Stone Buddha of Beopcheonsa Temple, Yangsan
양산 법천사 석조여래좌상 · 梁山 法泉寺 石造如來坐像
Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.krThis statue was made of bulseok (zeolite), the material used for late-Joseon stone Buddhist statues, a soft, white stone. The statue is fairly large, standing 81.5 cm in total height, and it was recently regilded, so that its condition is very good. A cavity for votive deposits was set into the base of the statue, and a preliminary survey carried out before the regilding repair found inside it a votive-deposit pouch, two copies of the Six-Syllable Great Brilliant King mantra, two dharani, and a five-directions chart. It was designated a Gyeongsangnam-do Tangible Cultural Heritage on 11 March 2010, and has since been managed by Beopcheonsa Temple.
