Although the bell as a whole carries on the form of seventeenth-century bronze bells, its bell shape and the pointed, flower-like outline of the raised boss-panel band — a style that appeared after the Monk Sain — show the stylistic changes seen in eighteenth-century bronze bells. This beomjong, a Buddhist temple bell, was hung and used at Seolseondang Hall until the fire at Daeungjeon Hall in 1981. The upper part, with its hanging loop cast as a pair of facing dragons, conveys the weighty dignity typical of Joseon bells, and the bell is in good condition, its cast-metal alloy of notably fine quality.
