The Stone Shakyamuni Triad and Sixteen Arhats enshrined in the Yeongsanjeon Hall of Seongjusa Temple have no exactly known date of production or maker, but the full assembly of attendant figures survives, and the individual character of the sculptor-monk is clearly evident in the iconography and technique, giving the group great value as a source for examining trends in Buddhist sculpture in the Gyeongnam region during the eighteenth century. The triad of Buddhas, including Shakyamuni, are seated stone statues lacquered and covered in gold leaf. The arhat statues, including the first arhat Pindola-bharadvaja, are painted standing figures, while some of the attendant boys accompanying the arhats are shown seated.
