The Gyecho simhak immun (誡初心學入文) and the Myobeop yeonhwagyeong, the Lotus Sutra, Volume 1 (妙法蓮華經 卷第一), are among ten books that are all more than 370 years old and are rare materials for the history of Buddhism. In 2004, when the Buddhist statue that had been temporarily enshrined in the Ansimnyo quarters of Seongjusa Temple was moved along with the construction of Jijangjeon Hall and given new gilding and repainting, the votive objects deposited inside the statue of Kshitigarbha Bodhisattva were examined. This revealed that the images of Kshitigarbha Bodhisattva, the Ten Kings of the Underworld and their entire attendant retinue had been newly made in 1681, and the names of the painter-monks who made them and of the donors are listed. It also became known that Seongjusa Temple was at that time called Ungsinsa (熊神寺, "Bear Temple").
