김해 보현사 불교전적류 · 金海 普賢寺 佛敎典籍類

Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.krThese are seven volumes of Buddhist scriptures printed after the Imjin War (the Japanese invasions of Korea, 1592–1598): the Treatise on the Sutra of the Ten Bhumis (十地經論), Part 2, from Chapter 5, "The Stage Difficult to Conquer," section 7, to Chapter 10, "The Stage of the Dharma Cloud," section 12; the Ganjimnok, a compiled record; the Commentary and Sub-commentary on the Avatamsaka Sutra, Volume 34; the Jingde Records of the Transmission of the Lamp, Volumes 22 to 24; the Sutra of Perfect Enlightenment, Volume 6; and the Lotus Sutra, Volumes 1 and 2. The style in which the engravers signed their names, together with the shape of the fish-tail marks (decorative marks at the centre fold of a traditional woodblock-printed book), makes it possible to identify the form and edition of the woodblock prints produced at provincial temples, and reveals the trends in scripture publishing across the regions in the late Joseon period.
