This is a cave dwelling made by people who lived here during the late Neolithic period. It was discovered by chance in 1962 during construction work at Seongsim Women's University (now Hallim University). It was dug out like a cave into the slope on the eastern foot of the mid-slope of Bongeuisan Mountain. The interior floor is circular with a diameter of 4 m, and the highest point of the ceiling is 2.1 m. There are also traces of smoke blackening on the ceiling, showing that people who used fire once lived here; afterwards, for reasons that are unclear, it appears to have been used as a tomb. Three human skeletons were found here, along with numerous artefacts including stone axes, stone arrowheads, stone chisels, stone mallets and Jeulmun (comb-pattern) pottery. It is estimated to date from the Neolithic period, about 5,000 years ago.
