Doryeon Dolmen No. 2
도련지석묘2호 · 도련지석묘2호

Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.krDolmens are the representative tombs of the Bronze Age, also called goindol, and are known chiefly as the burial places of a ruling class with economic wealth or political power. Korean dolmens are divided into two types: the table type, in which four supporting stones are set upright to form a burial chamber with a huge flat capstone placed on top, and the go-board type, in which a burial chamber is built in the ground with small supporting stones set beneath a capstone. This dolmen, in Doryeon-dong, Jeju City, is of the go-board type. Its capstone measures 2.22 m in length and 2.05 m in width, and is close to oval in shape. The supporting stones have been lost, but one side of the capstone is raised, and judging from the arch shape characteristic of Jeju's dolmens, it is presumed that supporting stones originally stood beneath it.
