Unlike those of the Korean peninsula, Jeju Island's dolmens are megalithic remains built not in the Bronze Age but in the Tamna period, and are classified into the northern-type, the southern-type, and the capstone-type (without support stones). Saekdal-dong Dolmen No. 1 stands beside the road at 1741-1 Saekdal-dong. It is a typical southern-type dolmen, of the "raised" form, with a doubled row of support stones propping up its front. The capstone is close to an elongated oval, roughly rectangular in shape, and is set on a double tier of supports. It measures 315cm along its long axis and 275cm along its short axis, with a thickness of 35–75cm. This form of dolmen is also found among some of the dolmens in the Gwangnyeong-ri group in Aewol-eup. This dolmen was built in the early Tamna period, around AD 1–300.
