A dolmen is a tomb of people who lived during the Bronze Age of Korea's prehistoric period; it is also called a goindol or dolmen. This dolmen in Seosang-dong is known as a table-supported (giban-sik) dolmen, because its capstone rests on supporting stones like the legs of a go board, with the burial chamber prepared below ground. A stele stands atop the huge capstone, which measures as much as 4.6 m in length. The stele was erected to commemorate Song Bin, one of the Four Loyal Subjects of Gimhae, who fought against the Japanese troops that invaded Gimhae during the Japanese invasion of 1592 (the Imjin War) and died a martyr's death here; on the side of the capstone is carved the inscription "Song-gong Sunjeoram" (Rock of Lord Song's Martyrdom). Stone daggers, stone arrowheads and plain coarse pottery have been excavated from the dolmen, providing valuable material for research into life at that time.
