Dolmens are the representative tomb type of the Bronze Age, also called goindol, and are known chiefly as the burial places of a ruling class with economic wealth or political power. Korean dolmens are divided into two types: the table type, in which four support stones are set up to form an above-ground stone chamber topped with a huge flat capstone, and the go-board (baduk) type, in which a stone chamber is built underground with small support stones set beneath a capstone laid on top. The dolmens at Sawol-dong, Suseong-gu, Daegu are of the go-board type, and four of them stand together in a group. The capstones measure 1.7 to 2.37 metres in length and 1.1 to 1.6 metres in width, and the support stones are about 0.7 to 1.27 metres high. Villagers call this dolmen group 'Chilseongbawi' (Seven Star Rocks), suggesting that there were originally seven dolmens here in the past.
