This is a shrine dedicated to General Choe Yeong (1316–1388), a renowned military commander of the Goryeo dynasty. During the reign of King Gongmin of Goryeo, rebellions repeatedly broke out on Jeju Island, including the killing of the Jeju-mok magistrate. The royal court therefore ordered General Choe Yeong to suppress these uprisings in the 23rd year of King Gongmin (1874). While leading his troops on an expedition to Jeju Island, he encountered fierce storms and took refuge on Chujado Island to wait for the wind to calm. There, General Choe Yeong taught the local residents how to catch fish using nets, bringing about a great transformation in their way of life. Ever since, the residents, not forgetting the general's kindness, have maintained a shrine and hold a rite every year on the 15th day of the 7th lunar month and the last day of the 12th lunar month, praying for a bountiful catch and good harvest.
