A samgangmun is a jeongnyeo, a commemorative gate erected to honour loyal subjects, filial sons and virtuous women. This samgangmun was built to honour the loyalty, filial piety and virtue of the righteous army leader Go Gyeong-myeong (1533–1592), who died for his country at the Battle of Geumsan during the Japanese invasions of Korea (Imjin War), along with six members of his family. Built in 1844, the building follows the architectural style typically used for jeongnyeo, with a floor plan of four bays across the front and one bay deep, under a gabled roof.
