Chogoksanseong Fortress
초곡산성 · 草谷山城

Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.krChogoksanseong Fortress sits atop a mountain 700m above sea level, west of Yugasa Temple on Biseulsan Mountain, forming a long oval shape running from north-east to south-west with a circumference of 1,700m; the ancient tomb clusters found within it suggest that the fortress was built during the Three Kingdoms period. The fortress takes the form of a toemoe-sik mountain fortress, a type built around a flat-topped hill making use of the natural cliff terrain. Within it, traces of a gate and a watchtower have been identified, along with roof tiles, a well and tomb clusters, giving it historical value as an important site in the area of Hyeonpung-myeon and Yuga-myeon, Dalseong-gun.
