Samjeongdongsanseong Fortress
삼정동산성 · 三丁洞山城

Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.krThis is a mountain fortress built encircling the summit of a mountain 240m above sea level in Panam-dong, Dong-gu, Daejeon. It is about 200m in circumference and forms a long oval shape running north to south. Traces of double-layered construction remain on the southern wall, where the wall was 5.2m wide. Projections are found on the sections of wall running along the mountain ridge to the north-east and south-west; these are thought to be the remains of chiseong, bastions built at a fortress's vulnerable points so that an approaching enemy could be observed and repelled. There also appears to have been a building near the western wall used to keep watch over the immediate surroundings. The fortress is presumed to have been built to guard the route leading toward Okcheon.
