Daedae-ri Ancient Tomb stands alone beside National Route 7, which runs from Ulsan to Busan. Unlike other Three Kingdoms-period tombs identified nearby, which sit on ridgelines, this one lies on flat ground. No formal excavation has been carried out, so the exact internal structure is unknown, but judging from the height of the mound it is presumed to be a stone-chamber tomb built around the 6th century. The tomb sits at the end of the ridge that continues from the Hadae tomb cluster, where burials were built continuously from the ridge top down to the village below. Excavations have shown that tombs of chieftain rank from the Samhan period lie near the summit, while relatively small tombs are found in the village across the road adjacent to Daedae-ri Ancient Tomb. The burial types identified include Three Kingdoms-period wooden-chamber pit tombs, vertical stone-lined pit tombs, and jar-coffin tombs. Various earthenware, ironware, glass beads and bronze ritual vessels have been excavated from the site. The Hadae tomb cluster is presumed to be a site connected with the statelet of Usisan-guk recorded in the Samguk sagi. The various ceremonial ironware decorated with a fern-frond pattern, and a bronze cauldron with two handles and three legs, excavated here, are regarded as evidence strengthening this link with Usisan-guk. Daedae-ri Ancient Tomb is valued as important material for clarifying the existence of Usisan-guk in the ancient Ulsan region and for illuminating the society and culture of the time.
