Bipasanseong Fortress is a mountain fortress in Soho-dong, Dong-gu, Daejeon, also known as Sohodong Fortress. The pass that once linked Soho-dong and Daebyeol-dong was called Bipachi, and the fortress took its name from this pass. It is a mountain fortress built of natural stones stacked around the summit, but most of it has now collapsed and its original form can no longer be traced. The method of construction is also unknown; only the site of the south gate, 2.2 m wide, can be confirmed. On flat ground within the fortress, fragments of earthenware bearing parallel-line patterns, thought to date from Baekje, have been found, along with roof-tile fragments decorated with striped and lattice patterns. Bipasanseong Fortress is directly linked to Bomunsanseong Fortress, and also faces Neungseong and Samjeong-dong Fortress to the east of Daejeon. This fortress appears to have been built to block the route running from Daejeon towards Majeon and Geumsan.
