전고령가야왕릉 · 傳古寧伽倻王陵

Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.krThis is said to be the tomb of the founding king of Goryeonggaya, one of the six Gaya states that arose around the Nakdonggang River in AD 42. Goryeonggaya was a state whose territory covered the Nakdonggang River area of Hamchang, Mungyeong and Gaeun, and its name appears in the entry on the Five Gayas in the Samguk yusa and in the entry on Goryeong-gun in the Samguk sagi. It is also said that in 1592, the 25th year of King Seonjo of Joseon, Gim Su, then the governor of Gyeongsang-do Province, and Yi Guk-pil, the magistrate of Hamchang, discovered a tombstone buried in front of the grave and thereby confirmed it as the tomb of a Gaya king. Later, in 1712, the 38th year of King Sukjong, a tombstone and stone objects including stone sheep figures were prepared by royal command, and the burial ground has since been repaired several times by descendants down to the present day.
