Insan-ri Stone Chamber Tomb, Ganghwa
강화 인산리 석실분 · 江華 仁山里 石室墳

This is a stone chamber tomb of the Goryeo period, located about eight-tenths of the way up the southern slope of Toemosan Mountain, west of Hyeolgusan Mountain. The tomb is presumed to date from the Goryeo period and to have been built in semi-underground form on the sloping face of a ridge. A rectangular, box-shaped stone chamber was built using natural and roughly dressed stones, and it is thought that a three-tiered stone retaining wall once followed the slope in front of it to form the burial precinct; today, however, the retaining wall has entirely collapsed, and little trace of the precinct remains. Only a scattering of stones over a wide area around the chamber suggests that this was the burial precinct of the Insan-ri stone chamber tomb. The ceiling is a flat ceiling covered with a large, flat capstone, and the east, west and north walls are built up in five to seven courses of natural stones of varying size fitted to form even faces, while the south wall consists of large, flat stones set upright to block the entrance.
