This fortress was built encircling the summit of Seongchisan Mountain, about 6 km northeast of Gyejoksanseong Fortress; in plan it forms a long oval. The wall has a circumference of about 160 m and a width of 4.3 m, but it has largely collapsed, making it difficult to discern its original form. At present, only the section running from the north-eastern wall to the southern wall retains some of its original shape. The wall was built in double layers, with the outer wall standing 2.4 m high; on the inner side, one to two courses of stone masonry were confirmed. It was constructed by laying flat, even-faced stones horizontally, with their front faces aligned. The site of the south gate survives, about 3 m wide. At the centre of the fortress rises a small peak, one level higher than its surroundings, which appears to be the site of a jangdae, a command post from which a general once directed operations from a height. At the centre of this peak is a depression about 6.2 m in diameter, which seems to have been either a beacon-fire mound or a storage facility.
