This is the tomb of Kim Yang (808–857), a member of the Silla royal family, located in Seoak-dong, Gyeongju. A ninth-generation descendant of King Taejong Muyeol, he became governor of Goseong in the third year of King Heungdeok's reign (828) and later served as governor-general of Muju. Wherever he served, he is said to have left behind many achievements and earned a great reputation. In 830, together with Jang Bogo, he killed King Minae and enthroned Ujing as King Sinmu; when King Sinmu died young, he went on to serve the succeeding King Munseong. When he died at the age of fifty in the nineteenth year of King Munseong's reign (857), he was posthumously granted the rank of daegakgan, the highest office in Silla, and was buried there together with King Taejong Muyeol, in keeping with the ranking of the king's tomb. It is a relatively large tomb without special facilities, a round earthen mound raised high with packed soil.
