This is a settlement site dating from the Bronze Age to the Joseon period, located within the grounds of a regional meteorological office in Yuseong-gu, Daejeon. The site was excavated by the Hannam University Museum in 1994; the excavation identified 47 dwelling remains, seven pit tombs (earthen-pit burials), two jar burials (urn coffin burials) and two storage pits. Many of these artefacts and remains had been badly damaged, and few retained their original form. The dwelling remains span several periods: seven from the Bronze Age, 34 from the Proto-Three Kingdoms period, and six from the Joseon period. The Bronze Age dwellings fall into rectangular and circular types; the circular dwellings resemble those of the Songguk-ri site in Buyeo, and the artefacts recovered from inside them are likewise Songguk-ri-type plain pottery and polished stone tools. The dwellings of the Proto-Three Kingdoms period are so badly damaged that very few retain their original shape, but they are thought to have been of two types, oval and semicircular. To protect the Guseong-dong Site, it has been covered with an earthen mound 1–2 m high, on top of which outdoor observation facilities have been installed and are currently in use.
