This is known as a kiln site group because it preserves, clustered together, the remains of kilns where celadon, white porcelain and buncheong ware (a grey-blue stoneware coated with white slip) were fired during the Joseon period. The scattered sherds found at the site indicate that the vessels produced there included bowls, dishes, small cups, bottles, placenta jars, and covered boxes. Among the recovered sherds, those bearing inscriptions relating to the names of Joseon-period government offices are of particular interest, including "Eonyang Insu (彦陽仁壽)", "Jangheung (長興)", "Sun (順)" and "Ye (禮)"; these provide evidence of the nature of the kiln site and its period of operation. This kiln site is believed to be the "Eonyang porcelain kiln", one of the 139 porcelain kilns recorded in the Sejong Sillok Jiriji (the geographical appendix to the Annals of King Sejong), and is thought likely to have supplied ceramics to the central government. It is valued as an important site that contributes greatly to the study of Joseon-period ceramic history.
