Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.krA kiln site is a place where ceramics, roof tiles or other vessels were fired. The Gyeongsan Sanjeon Hall East Mound Cheongsagi Kiln Site was a place where buncheong ware — a grey-blue stoneware decorated with white slip — and white porcelain were produced from the 15th to the 16th century, during the Joseon period, and six kiln sites have been confirmed there. The kilns were of the tunnel type dug into a slope. Among the excavated relics, buncheong ware with stamped floral and tortoise-shell patterns is the most common, and undecorated and inlaid buncheong fragments as well as white porcelain fragments were also found. In particular, some buncheong fragments bear stamped characters reading "Gyeongsan Jangheunggo," "Gyeongsan Maekseok" and "Bu"; the presence of "Gyeongsan Jangheunggo" shows that ceramics used by government offices were also produced and supplied here.
