Yeongsin Group Yi I Tomb
영신군 이이 묘 · 永新君 李怡 墓

Yeongsin Group Yi I was a grandson of Hyoryeong Daegun, the second son of King Taejong of Joseon, and the sixth son of Uiseong-gun Chae. Styled Hwabo, he was born in 1454, the second year of King Danjong, and, having rendered service to the royal clan and the state as a member of the royal family, was granted the title of Jeongui-daebu, Yeongsin Group. He later retired to Bupyeong, where he lived until his death in 1526, the 21st year of King Jungjong, at the age of 73. The burial ground, now laid out as Yeongsin Park, contains more than ten family graves besides his own. The tomb of his eldest son, Myeongwon-gun, lies separately in Jangheung Township, Yangju County, Gyeonggi Province, while the tomb of his second son, Hamwon-gun, is located here. Hamwon-gun was well versed in the Confucian classics, upright and incorruptible, and once proposed to the throne the way of good government and peace. On his death, King Myeongjong sent wine and a memorial text through the royal secretary Hong Dae-hyeop. The tombstones and stone furnishings arranged at each grave provide valuable material for research into Joseon-period royal tomb regulations, memorial rites, and art and craft.
