A yuheobi is a stele erected to commemorate a person's achievements and to mark the site of his former activities for later generations to know; this stele honours Song Si-yeol, a civil official of mid-Joseon. Song Si-yeol, pen name Uam (1607–1689), was a great Confucian scholar of Joseon born in the Okcheon region. His Confucian thought carried on the scholarly lineage of Yi I (Yulgok) and formed the mainstream of the Giho school; he was a leading figure of the Noron faction across four reigns, from King Injo to King Sukjong, played a major role in politics, and trained many scholars through his outstanding learning. The stele is now kept inside a stele pavilion. It consists of a rectangular body set on a square base stone and topped with a roof-shaped capstone. On the front of the body the title 'Uam Song Seonsaeng Yuheo' (Remains of Master Song Si-yeol) is carved in standard (haeseo) script, and on the back is carved 'Sungjeonghu samsul i wol il', a date recorded in the traditional cyclical system, giving the year of erection. The stele is presumed to have been put up around the reign of King Jeongjo of Joseon (r. 1776–1800).
