Chuncheon Sinmae-ri Stone Chamber Ancient Tomb

This is a tomb in the Goguryeo style, discovered during farmland reorganisation work in the Sinmae-ri district of Chuncheon. The burial chamber, where the body was laid, was built up in three to four courses of fairly large natural and river stones, with the corners chamfered and a single large capstone placed on top to finish it—a stone chamber tomb with a corbelled, truncated-corner ceiling. It is also equipped with a passage corresponding to an entrance corridor. Investigation recovered only the scattered bones of two individuals, with no other artefacts. Judging by its form, the Chuncheon Sinmae-ri Stone Chamber Ancient Tomb follows the traditional Goguryeo method of tomb construction, and appears to have been built around the sixth century.
