A yuheobi is a stele erected to commemorate a person's achievements and to mark the site of their former residence or activities for later generations; this stele honours Song Si-yeol, a civil official of the late Joseon period. Song Si-yeol, pen name Uam (1607–1689), was one of Joseon's great Confucian scholars. His Confucian thought inherited the scholarly lineage of Yi Yulgok and formed the mainstream of the Giho school. A leading figure of the Noron faction across four reigns from King Injo to King Sukjong, he played a major role in politics and, through his outstanding scholarship, trained many disciples. The stele stands on the site where he built a study and lectured. It consists of a stele body set on a base stone and topped with a capstone, its front face inscribed "Uam Song Seonsaeng Yuheobi" (Stele Marking the Site Associated with Master Song Si-yeol). It was erected in 1875, the twelfth year of Emperor Gojong of Joseon, by Song Si-yeol's descendants and Confucian scholars.
