Udeongnisanseong Fortress

Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.krUdeongnisanseong Fortress is a mountain fortress built atop Sirubong Peak in Udeok-ri, Deokcheon-myeon, Jeongeup, Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province. It is a temoe-style fortress — one that encircles only the summit of a peak — laid out here around a small north-south ridge in a long oval shape. The fortress wall is about 415 metres in circumference. There are two breaks in the wall, thought to be the sites of a north gate and a west gate, suggesting the fortress originally had two gates. Very old pottery fragments have been found within the fortress. As the fortress appears to have taken the form of a wooden palisade, it is presumed to be a fortress site dating back to the Baekje period.
