Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.krHan Baek-ryun (1427-1474), courtesy name Jahu and pen name Uiam, belonged to the Cheongju Han clan and received the posthumous title Yanghye; he is regarded as the founding ancestor of the Yanghyegong branch of the Cheongju Han clan. He entered government service in 1446 through the eumseo system of hereditary appointment, and held posts including Jangsarang, Sogyeokjeon Jikjang and Sayeon of Gyeongbokgung Palace. In 1444, the 26th year of King Sejong, he passed the sikyeon civil service examination and served in the Naesibyeolgam, the inner palace guard. In 1462, when his daughter entered the Crown Prince's household, he was successively appointed Uiheungwi Busa and Uibinbu Dosa before being made Gongjo Jeongnang, a counsellor at the Board of Works. When King Yejong acceded to the throne in 1468 and his daughter became queen consort (Queen Ansun), he was honoured, as the king's father-in-law, with the title Bogukungnokdaebu Cheongcheon-gun and concurrently Commander-in-Chief of the Five Military Commands, and was further recognised as a meritorious subject for his part in suppressing the rebellion of Nam I. When King Seongjong came to the throne, he was appointed State Councillor of the Right, concurrently overseeing the Confucian academy and the Office of Annals, and enfeoffed as Cheongcheon Buwongun; in 1471 he was honoured again as a meritorious subject. A sindobi, a memorial stele set up beside the approach road to record an official's lifetime achievements, stands at the entrance to the tomb. The burial ground contains a mound, gravestone, stone lantern and stone figures of civil officials, all larger in scale than those of an ordinary official's tomb. During restoration work in 1981, five sheets of plain paper bearing a burial inscription were discovered beneath the stone offering table.
