Duseungsanseong Fortress
두승산성 · 斗升山城

Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.krThis fortress encircles the 443-metre summit of Duseungsan Mountain in Gobu-myeon, Jeongeup, enclosing a valley within its walls. It is also known as Seunggosanseong Fortress or Yeongjusanseong Fortress. The walls, built using the natural cliffs of nine peaks, run for more than 500 metres, and two valleys, to the west and south, lie within the fortress. Most of the fortress has now collapsed, though some of its original form survives, and the sites of gates remain to the west and south, where the valleys lie. There is no definite record of when the fortress was built, but the relics found inside it suggest that it was constructed by Baekje during the Three Kingdoms period and continued in use thereafter.
