Hawondongtamna King Ja Tomb
하원동탐라왕자묘 · 河源洞耽羅王子墓

Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.krThis site is presumed, from documentary records such as Yi Won-jo's Tamnaji chobon and the Daejeonggun eupji, and Kim Yak-ik's Simjaejip, together with stories handed down by oral tradition, to be the tomb of a prince. Internally it is a square stone-lined tomb (seokgwakmyo) built of well-dressed stone, with four to eight courses of slab stones and broken stones. Fragments of porcelain, small jade ornaments, a support stand for a grave marker, stone incense implements, and a civil official statue indicate that it was built between the late Goryeo and early Joseon periods. The Hawondongtamna King Ja Tomb was the tomb of a high-ranking figure of its time, and holds great academic and historical value for the study of how tombs on Jeju Island developed over the centuries.
