This is the tomb of Yi Se-hwa (pen name Ssangbaekdang, 1630–1701), a civil official who served during the reign of King Sukjong of Joseon. When he heard that Queen Inhyeon was to be deposed, Yi Se-hwa submitted a memorial opposing the move together with O Du-in. He was banished to Jeongju but was later released and withdrew into seclusion in Paju; he subsequently returned to office as superintendent of the office charged with restoring Queen Inhyeon to her position. The tomb stands on a high hill, where Yi Se-hwa is buried together with his wife, Lady Seol (1627–1670). Two burial mounds stand side by side, and between them are a gravestone, a stone offering table and an incense-burner stone. The gravestone is of the wonsu-bangbu type, with a rounded capstone and a square pedestal, topped by a stele body with a rounded crown. Its inscription sums up Yi Se-hwa's life concisely in the words "loyal subject". Stone watch-pillars and stone civil-official figures stand to either side of the mounds. At the lower end of the burial ground is a sindobi, a memorial stele recording his achievements, erected in 1708 in the gaeseok-bangbu style, with a roof-shaped capstone and a square pedestal. Its inscription was composed by Nam Gu-man and written by O Tae-ju, with the seal-script heading written by Choe Seok-jeong. O Tae-ju, a celebrated calligrapher, is said never to have written inscriptions for anyone outside his own family, but he wrote this one because his father, O Du-in, had died after submitting the same memorial together with Yi Se-hwa.
